Bi-Centenary

Emulation Lodge of Improvement celebrated its Bi-Centenary in October 2023, marking it out as the oldest institution continually meeting to demonstrate ritual in the English constitution.

The year was marked with a series of Festivals culminating in the Bi-Centenary Festival on Friday 6th October 2023 which was held in the Grand Temple at Freemasons’ Hall and saw several hundred Brethren enjoy four sections of the lectures delivered by members of the Committee, including the Senior Member.

Alongside celebratory events, the Lodge continued its usual programme of Friday evening meetings, welcoming members and visitors throughout the year. A new edition of the Emulation Ritual has been produced to mark the Bi-Centenary, including clarified explanations of certain aspects of the ritual rubric.

In December 2023 the Senior Member, VW Bro Graham F. Redman PGSwdB, DepGSec retired from his role and in January 2024, W Bro Gerald Goodall PSGD was elected Senior Member. The secretariat also changed, with W Bro Scott Cargill retiring after 12 years in post, and handing over to W Bro Jake T. A. Mossom LGR.

The Committee look forward to facing exciting challenges as Emulation Lodge of Improvement moves into its third century of working.
